I don't know how it works in Solaris but Linux, Windows, and VMware have drivers for both software and hardware initiators as well as TCP offload engines. A quick searched turned up some Solaris drivers from Qlogic -- you may want to explore there more as Qlogic and Emulex FC cards are sold by Oracle so there's a chance there may be some iSCSI options as well... http://filedownloads.qlogic.com/files/driver/51633/readme_iSCSIsol.html
