The thought is that maybe clang would work.  We can keep using studio
for now, I don't think they can take it *back*, although they can
prevent anyone else from getting a new copy.  (Which would really
require us to support GCC properly.)

There are also the pathscale compilers, but they may have the same
proprietary issues that Sun Studio has.
