Best I can come up with is ipsec, though not much fun to configure,
probably.

Would digest(1) and encrypt(1) do it?

Sure, but I don't know why I need to know that, and it's pretty obvious
kcfd isn't being started on a system that lacks kcfd :)

I don't care much either way, though.
