[illumos-Developer] building step 3, keyboard layout changed after update to b145

As you have selected a different layout than your hardware would have reported anyway, following the configuration in the bug notes was the right thing to do.  In fact, your situation is exactly the kind of situation that joergs proposed fix would have missed.
