Yes, since GNOME was the first part of Solaris to depend on python,
they added the packages in the way which was most convenient for them,
and included the GNOME modules in the base package.   Refactoring the
packages to split the GNOME modules into a separate package is
something that's been needed for a while, but not yet done.
